Einthoven triangle

Myocardial infarction localization. A 12 lead EKG creates a 360 degree view of the electrical activity of the heart. Contiguous leads view the heart from the same perspective: II, III & aVL view the inferior heart (inferior leads), I & aVL view the lateral left heart (lateral leads), and as you can see aVR has no contiguous lead (aVR stands alone). V1 & V2 sit over the septum that divides the right and left heart and are called septal leads, V3 & V4 sit over the anterior heart (which is mostly left ventricle given anatomical position of the heart within the the body) and are called anterior leads, and V5 & V6 view the lateral left heart (lateral leads, again; all lateral leads are contiguous I, aVL, V5, & V6. #EKG #diagram #Electrocardiogram #STEMI #Localization #Contiguous #Leads #EinthovenTriangle #Cardiac #EmergencyMedicine #Cardiology #Physiology #MedEd
