The Epley maneuver is used to help treat Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). Named after Dr. John Epley and first described in 1980, it is a series of repositioning maneuvers designed to help remove dislodged crystals from the semicircular canals, back into the utricle. These dislodged crystals floating within the semicircular canals are responsible for causing the room-spinning sensation of vertigo in BPPV Here are a series of crowd-sourced instructions and short video clips that can be used to help demonstrate or perform the Epley maneuver at the bedside. The Epley maneuver can be performed in clinic or at home.
