Lupus Nephritis - Diagnostic approach to kidney disease associated with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)
SLE patient develops new:
 • Proteinuria > 500 mg/d
 • Nephritic urine sediment (dysmorphic RBCs, RBC casts, WBC casts) especially if combined with evidence of proteinuria
 • Decreased kidney function (attributable to SLE)
→ Perform Kidney Biopsy
 • Non-ProIiferative LN
 • Proliferative LN
 • Non-LN Kidney Disease (5%)
