Pediatric SVT - Management Algorithm
Identify SVT:
• HR not variable
• Abrupt rate changes
• Infants: HR > 220bpm
• Children: HR > 180bpm
ECG, Monitors, Pads AP
Stable?
• Vagal Maneuvers
- Ice x 15s
- Don't cover mouth/nose.
- Older children: blow in syringe
• Adenosine - 0.1 mg/kg
- Followed by Flush
- Not effective? 0.2 mg/kg
Unstable? Signs of shock or heart failure
• Cardiovert
- Sedation then Sync
- 0.5-1 J/kg
- Not effective? 2 J/kg
