Top 10 situations when to think about lupus
1) Inflammatory joint pain (especially in the wrists and fingers, or pain everywhere)
2) A rash on the face (many differential diagnoses, including the very common rosacea)
3) Limb oedema leading to the discovery of proteinuria/hematuria
4) Always with pericarditis (search ANA) ; sometimes « viral pericarditis » is...lupus
5) Always with pleurisy (search ANA) [especially if not responsive to antibiotics]
6) An annular rash on the body or in photoexposed areas (photosensitivity)
7) Always in case of psychosis or epilepsis in a young person (search ANA*)
