Primary Biliary Cirrhosis - Diagnosis Algorithm
Symptoms: Fatigue, Pruritus, Right upper quadrant discomfort
Signs: Jaundice, Xanthelasmata, Hepatomegaly
Associated history: Symptoms of associated autoimmune disease (e.g. dryness of the eyes and mouth, Raynaud's phenomenon, arthritis), Personal/family history of autoimmune disease, Persistent pruritus after pregnancy
Diagnose PBC if 2/3 criteria are met:
1. Elevated ALP
2. Positive AMA or specific ANAs (e.g. gp210/sp100)
3. Liver biopsy findings consistent with PBC
