Internal Jugular Vein Thrombosis on POCUS Here's a great ultrasound showing an unexpected MASSIVE internal jugular vein thrombosis. Also note the carotid artery is immediately deep to the vein. This is why we use ultrasound when placing central lines! Can you imagine cannulating this IJ with a large bore needle, threading a guidewire, DILATING the vessel, then placing the triple lumen? How bout a Cordis?... or a Dialysis Catheter? Sam Ghali, M.D. @EM_RESUS #Internal #Jugular #IJ #Vein #Thrombosis #POCUS #clinical #ultrasound #neck
