Warm vs Cold Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia
Warm Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia:
 • Mechanism: IgG and Complement-mediated
 • Etiology: Lymphoproliferative disorder, Autoimmune disorder
 • Associated Findings: Coombs positive for IgG +/- C3, Spherocytes
 • Treatment: Corticosteroids, Immunosuppression, Splenectomy
Cold Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia:
 • Mechanism: IgM and Complement-mediated
 • Etiology: Lymphoproliferative disorder, Mycoplasma, HIV, EBV
 • Associated Findings: Coombs Positive for C3 only, Agglutination, Mostly transient hemolysis
 • Treatment: Warm patient, Plasmapheresis
