Aplastic Anemia - Illness Script Signs and symptoms: • Recurrent infections from neutropenia • Mucosal bleeding from low platelets • Symptomatic anemia Diagnosis: • Pancytopenia with hypocellular bone marrow biopsy without evidence of infiltration or megaloblastic anemia Treatment: • Consider stem cell transplant • If no transplant, immunosuppressive therapy with eltrombopag, cyclosporine A, ATG (antithymocyte globulin), and prednisone • Supportive care (transfusions, antibiotics if neutropenic fever) Complications: • Can progress to MDS or acute leukemia • Associated PNH SCVMC Internal Medicine @SCVMCMed #Aplastic #Anemia #diagnosis #management #treatment #hematology
