Traumatic Cactus Injury
How would you approach this at point of injury?
Could there be a pneumothorax, hemthorax, great vessel injury, small bowel or hollow viscous organ injury? Diaphragm or nerve injury? Foreign bodies?
PAIN CONTROL:
This will be a unique issue and consideration. Local is likely NOT the best approach.
Would you use ketamine, fentanly, narcotics, regional nerve blocks? What about conscious sedation with ketamine +/- propofol.
Would mixing different agents be appropriate?
Would general anesthesia and OR time be appropriate or not?
