Neisseria Meningitidis Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP)
• Recommended for all close contacts of patients with invasive meningococcal disease (e.g., meningitis, bacteremia, PNA) REGARDLESS of vaccination status
- Close contacts = individuals with >8hr contact in close proximity <3 ft or exposed to the patient's oral secretions (e.g., kissing, mouth-to-mouth, intubation) in 7d before onset of sx until 24hr of abx therapy
• Not recommended for those who had brief contact with the patient or those with appropriate PPE
