Endoscopic balloon dilation of subglottic stenosis The video shows balloon dilation of a grade 3 subglottic stenosis, acquired post-intubation. The larynx is accessed through the mouth and using a balloon tube, inflated with pressurized water, the narrow area is expanded to improve airway space. In this case, the narrowing of the airway was caused by a scar under the vocal cords, due to the inflammation generated by prolonged endotracheal intubation.
