Yolk Sac on Transabdominal Pelvic Ultrasound

The yolk sac is the earliest definitive sign of an intrauterine pregnancy on POCUS (when seen within a uterine gestational sac with >7mm of endomyometrial mantle).  Appears at 5-6 weeks gestation, provides nutrition until ~12wks when placenta takes over
