Mean Arterial Pressure (MAP)

Mean Arterial Pressure is the average arterial pressure throughout one cycle, systole and diastole. A critical hemodynamic factor, MAP is considered a major objective for resuscitation. A common method used to estimate the MAP is the following formula:
  MAP = Diastolic Pressure + 1/3 (Systolic Pressure - Diastolic Pressure) or 
  MAP = DP + 1/3 (Pulse Pressure)
