Lift Off Test (Gerber's Test) - Subscapularis Shoulder Exam The patient places the dorsum of their hand at the mid-lumbar region and internally rotates at the shoulder to lift the hand off of the back against resistance. The inability to lift off of the back indicates subscapularis injury.
