The natural history of AAA shows that as aneurysms increase in size, they expand at a greater rate (Table 21 ) and the risk of rupture increases (Table 31,2). Therefore, in persons found to have aneurysms on initial screening, regular surveillance is needed every six months to three years, depending on aneurysm size.
