Central Cloudy Dystrophy of Francois (CCDF) on Slit Lamp Examination

Central Cloudy Dystrophy of Francois (CCDF) is a bilateral, symmetric corneal dystrophy located in the central corneal stroma. It is characterized by gray, polygonal-shaped opacities separated by clear tissue. CCDF typically appears within the first decade of life and does not affect vision. This finding is similar in appearance to crocodile shagreen. There is some evidence to suggest this corneal dystrophy has an autosomal dominant inheritance pattern.
