Diabetic Foot Infection: Long standing, poorly controlled diabetes has led to peripheral arterial disease and neuropathy. These disorders put patient at risk for the severe infection seen in the right foot. The distal aspect of the second toe is black and draining yellow pus as a result of deep infection and tissue death (gangrene). The skin is red as result of cellulitis. Note that patient has already lost left great toe to similar past infection.
