The Mandibular Nerve Block Anatomy The mandibular nerve, the largest branch of the trigeminal nerve, exits from the cranium through the foramen ovale of the greater wing of the sphenoid. It divides into an anterior branch, which supplies motor innervation to temporalis, masseter, pterygoids, mylohyoid, tensor tympani, and palati muscles, as well as a sensory branch, the buccal nerve.
