Mandible Fracture Management in the ED

Workup:
 - Panorex or Facial/Mandible CT scan 
 - Inspect oral cavity for dental trauma or lacerations, which are evidence of open 
fracture
Treatment - Closed:
 - Impacted and nondisplaced fractures occasionally are treated with only a soft diet, 
and fractures of the coronoid alone usually require no intervention 
 - Urgent outpatient oral maxillofacial surgery follow up 
Treatment - Open:
 - Antibiotics: Penicillin 2-4 million units IV or Clindamycin 600 -900 mg IV 
 - Admission for oral maxillofacial surgery consult
