False Lung Point on Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Your patient is stable but has diminished breath sounds on the R. Lung ultrasound anteriorly = no sliding. Now you're seriously worried about pneumothorax. You slide the probe around laterally (and maaaaaybe a little more caudal) and make this image. ... This looks an awful lot like a lung point, but it's not. This is a false lung point that can be seen at the lung base at the level of the diaphragm. That tissue that the lung point appears to be sliding over is the diaphragm, and you don't want to mistake this. Just pay attention to where your probe is.
