High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE)
Clinical 
 • Encephalopathy 
 • Ataxic gait 
 • Severe lassitude 
 • Progressive decline of mental function and consciousness 
Management 
 • Requires immediate intervention 
 • Descent is definitive (best when patient is still ambulatory) 
 • Dexamethasone (rescue medication) 
 • Supplemental oxygen 
 • Hyperbaric therapy
