Management of Suspected and Confirmed Candida auris 

Isolate patients with suspected C auris 
 • Private room and designated health care staff 
 • Strict adherence to hand hygiene and use of gloves, gowns, and designated equipment 
 • Daily and terminal disinfection 

Begin treatment 
 • Empirical therapy with an echinocandin (anidulafungin, caspofungin, or micafungin) 

Report confirmation of C auris 
 • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention 
 • Local public health authorities 

C auris infection confirmed 
 • Contact infectious disease specialist regarding definitive therapy 
 • Isolate and screen patient contacts for C auris infection or colonization 
 • Optimize environmental disinfection 
 • Consider decolonization of patient skin and mucosa 
 • Rescreen patients at 3-month intervals
