Thrombocytopenia and Pregnancy
Three syndromes in the critically ill pregnant woman who presents with coagulation defects.
1) HELLP (Hemolysis, Elevated Liver tests, Low Platelets)
 * Variant of pre-eclampsia
 * High LDH, schistocytes, DIC
 * Responds to delivery of child
 * Severe cases may require plasma exchange
2) Fatty liver of pregnancy
 * Severe coagulation defects and liver failure
 * Responds to delivery of child 
3) TTP
 * Occurs most often in 2nd trimester
 * Can support mother through pregnancy with plasma exchange
