Fibrates - Gemfibrozil and Fenofibrate
Mechanism: activates PPAR alpha
Lipid Effects:
 - Decrease TG by 30-50%
 - Increase HDL by 5-15%
 - Decrease LDL by 0-20%

The Fibrate drug class includes gemfibrozil and fenofibrate. These 2 medications were very commonly used to treat dyslipidemia, specifically hypertriglyceridemia since it has great triglyceride lowering. It's very important to remember not to use either of these medications with a statin, as this increases the risk of rhabdomyolysis.
