Drug-Induced Hypertension - Common Medications

Corticosteroids (prednisone)
Sympathomimetics (amphetamine, pseudoephedrine)
SNRl's (duloxetine, venlafaxine)
Calcineurin Inhibitors (tacrolimus, cyclosporine)
NSAlD's (ibuprofen)
Estrogen Therapy (contraceptives, hormone replacement)

There are many factors that increase patients risk of hypertension, with medications being one of them! There are a ton of different medications that can increase blood pressure, but here are the 6 most common drug classes that I see. It's important to know these effects so that you can assess your entire patient. This does NOT mean they are contraindicated in a patient with hypertension, but you should definitely weigh the risks and benefits (as always..) if considering any of these in a patient with hypertension.
