Capillary filling time is measured by applying firm pressure on the ventral surface of the distal phalanx of the right index finger with a glass microscope object holder. - The pressure is increased until the skin is blank and then held for 10 seconds. - The return time of normal skin color is recorded with a stopwatch. - A fill time of more than 3 seconds is defined as abnormal. This is the technique that was used in the ANDROMEDA-SHOCK study #Capillary #filling #Refill #time #Testing #PhysicalExam #Clinical #Finger #hypovolemia
