Heliotrope Rash in Dermatomyositis

Peri-orbital edema and the heliotrope rash that we are all familiar with. Eyelid edema is usually bilateral and present on the upper lid. It can be subtle although many examples in textbooks are quite dramatic. The heliotrope rash usually consists of flat, non scaly, macular patches of “violaceous” erythema
