Femoral Head Fracture: Pathogenesis and clinical findings
 • Posterior hip dislocation -> Impaction force from femoral head onto posterior acetabular wall
 • Anterior hip dislocation -> Impaction force from femoral head onto anterior acetabular wall
 • Avulsion or shearing injury -> Ligaments tear a portion of bone from the femoral head
 • Falls from height -> Compressive force from impact onto lateral hip
Signs/Symptoms/Complications:
 • Inability to weight-bear
 • Arthritic Changes
 • Non-union of fracture
 • Externally Rotated Leg
 • Shortened leg length
 • Internally Rotated Leg
 • Shooting pains down affected leg
