Dupuytren’s Disease: Pathogenesis and Clinical Findings
 • Aging, smoking and/or diabetes -> Microangiopathy and palmar fascia ischemia releasing free radicals
 • Alcoholism -> Incr conversion of xanthine dehydrogenase to xanthine oxidase releasing free radicals
 • Trauma -> Generation of IL-1 and/or ischemia of palmar fascia
 • North European descent -> Autosomal dominant with variable penetrance
 • Males -> Expression of androgen receptors in fascia
=> Overproliferation of fibroblasts and type III collagen deposition in palmar/digital fascia
=> Dupuytren's: benign fibromatosis of palmar and digital fascia
