Astigmatism: Pathogenesis and clinical findings
Astigmatism - deviation from spherical curvature of the lens or eye

Refracting power of the cornea is different in one meridian than in another =>
 • With the rule astigmatism: cornea is steepest in vertical meridian -> Light rays from vertical meridian form horizontal line foci
 • Against the rule astigmatism: cornea is steepest in horizontal meridian -> Light rays from horizontal meridian form vertical line foci
=> Parallel rays of light passing through the cornea are brought to different points of focus on the retina
 • Reduced visual acuity
 • Distortion Of Vision
 • Headache
 • Ocular fatigue
