Retroviral Infections: Mechanisms of Oncogenesis
Note: A retrovirus is an RNA virus that uses reverse transcriptase to synthesize DNA from the RNA before incorporating the new DNA into the host cell genome.
Examples of retrovirus-associated cancers:
 • Rous sarcoma virus (Sarcomas);
 • HIV (Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and others);
 • Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (Adult T-cell lymphoma/leukemia)
