Cardiac Tamponade on Echocardiogram in Slow Motion (PLAX)
EchoProTip: Does this patient has a potentially hemodynamically compromising effusion? You have to pause the video and go frame by frame. If there is collapse of the RV when the mitral valve opens, like in this case, the answer is YES.
Clinical diagnosis was symptomatic large pericardial effusion. Hemodynamically stable, but tachycardic. In my book this is a tap not to defer, but true clinical tamponade of shock was not present. Increased intrapericardial pressures is present.
