Epiphrenic diverticula are pulsion diverticula of the distal oesophagus arising just above the lower oesophageal sphincter, more frequently on the right posterolateral wall. Epiphrenic diverticula may present with symptoms of dysphagia, and regurgitation. When large they can cause distal oesophageal compression.
