HORNY PAMELA Mnemonic for Horner’s Syndrome Horner’s syndrome is classically associated with ptosis, miosis, and anhidrosis. This is caused by interruption of the sympathetic pathways, either central or peripherally. Most commonly associated with pancoast tumors or carotid dissection. P - Ptosis - Drooping of the upper eye lid, innervated by sympathetic nerve fibers (less severe than CN III palsy). A - Anhidrosis - Absence or reduction of sweating on the affected side of the face. M - Miosis - Constriction of the pupil on the affected side. E - Enophthalmos - Sinking of the eyeball into the orbit due to loss of sympathetic tone to orbital muscles. L - Loss of ciliary-spinal reflex - Loss of normal dilation in response to painful stimuli. A - Anisocoria - Unequal pupil sizes. #HORNY #PAMELA #Mnemonic #Horners #Syndrome #Diagnosis #Neurology
