Oxyhemoglobin Dissociation Curve

Left Shift - decreased unloading of O2 at tissue level (i.e. increased affinity)
 - decr H+ (alkalosis)
 - decr temperature
 - 2 , 3 -diphosphoglycerate:
      • stored red blood cells
 - Hb variant
     • fetal hæmoglobin
     • methæmoglobin
     • carboxyhæmoglobin
 - Carbon monoxide poisoning
 - Hypophosphatæmia

Right Shift - increased unloading of O2 at tissue level (i.e. decreased affinity)
 - incr H+ (acidosis)
 - incr temperature
 - incr 2,3-diphosphoglycerate:
      • pregnancy
      • chronic anæmia
      • arterial hypoxemia
 - Sickle cell anemia
