Malignant Complex Pleural Effusion on Lung POCUS
You are starting your RUSH exam on febrile/hypotensive patient with the subcostal window and note the following as you optimize your window. Diagnosis?
Answer: LARGE malignant pleural effusion---septated. Known lung CA. Source of infection was urinary in this patient.
Getting questions on this.Should have elaborated. U/S could be empyema based on appearance. Had known large malignant effusion-refused treatment.Had chest tube(bloody drainage) and ultimate VATS. No empyema.Had acute/subacute(on/off) bleeding on top of malignant effusion.
