Seasonal Affective Disorder: Pathogenesis and clinical findings

Symptoms (included in the DSM-V) - Two Major Depressive episodes in last 2 years demonstrating temporal seasonal relationships:
 - Hypersomnia
 - Hyperphagia
 - Carbohydrate Cravings
 - Weight Gain
 - Increased Sleep
Seasonal Specifications:
 - Seasonal pattern with Major Depressive Disorder
 - Full remissions or change from major depression to mania or hypomania at specific time of year
 - Not associated with a specific seasonal psychosocial stressor (ie busy season at work)
Symptoms Different from Major Depressive Disorder:
 - Seasonal pattern at specific times of year
 - Seasonal depressive episodes must outnumber any non-seasonal episodes
