Cotton Wool Spots- "In otherwise healthy patients, the observance of a cotton wool spot (CWS) is not considered normal. A single cotton wool spot in one eye can be the earliest ophthalmoscopic finding in diabetic or hypertensive retinopathy. In a series of patients who had cotton-wool spots and no known medical history, diastolic blood pressure equal to or greater than 90 mmHg was detected in 50% of patients, and an elevated blood sugar was found in 20% of patients" #cotton #wool #spots #retina #Ophthalmology #photo #hypertensive #diabetic #retinopathy #aao
Figure 1: Corneal ring infiltrate in a patient with #Acanthamoeba #keratitis. Acanthamoeba keratitis is a rare parasitic infection of the cornea that primarily occurs in contact lens wearers. The infection may be limited to the epithelium in its early stages, resulting in epithelial dendrites and punctate epitheliopathy. Later stromal involvement classically results in a partial or complete paracentral ring infiltrate, radial perineuritis, and pain out of proportion to the appearance on exam. Scleritis and uveitis may also be present. #clinical #photo #Ophthalmology #perineuritis
